This was hit by a truck on Mill Creek Road .
This is a BIG cat!
A friend sent this to me. The mountain lion was killed east of Altoona and south of State College , Pa. northeast of Raystown Lake between Mt. Union and Huntingdon , Pa. .. One doesn’t think about big cats being in this eastern part of the country. Game commissions have denied it for a long time.

That is a big cat!
he got that way by feeding on small deer! i’ll bet there’s plenty more like him around. that’s why the deer population is falling in the mountains.
Nice Pics! I especially like the Mule deer antlers in the left background. There are no Mule deer in PA! Nice try!
Gee I see a ROYOBI table saw in the back, I wonder if we sale them in Pa. ???
i’m sure the mule deer was shot out west!!!!!!! good eyes, though.
Sorry…..check out snopes

Did anyone see the LARGE elk antler on the dude right side. It’s between the “V” of the two broom handles. With the mule deer antlers and elk it makes me wonder.
Why would you even think of posting this?
And why the big smile?
I realize you didn’t kill it, but for God’s sake, stop smiling.
I grew up partly in Mill Creek and we used to hear Catamounts at night (in the 60’s-80’s), dang scary! Gorgeous animals though!
i saw a mountian lion in nepa falls twp. 15 miles north of scranton, but was not as big as that.dont doubt thats from pa but it looks like a big north western cat.
thats one huge moutain lion
I have never seen a cougar in PA. I did see a lynx near Ole Bull State Park 3 years ago. He crossed the road in front of us. He crossed in two bounds! Good sized cat.
I was told there are no lynx in Pa either.
You are dressed pretty warm for late June
I agree with Mark nice winter coat on the cat
I saw that same cat 3 days before it was hit dragging my neighbors 12oo lb horse thru the woods by the neck
The Cat was using my kids sand box for a litter box leaving piles as big as a watermellon
the article was posted in June, it does not say when the cat was killed…it does say that the game commission has denied it for a while. It’s not that hard to believe that there could be cougars in PA. There is plenty of room and food for them to stay out of peoples sight.
In 2001 I had the oppourtunity to see my first cat in Pa..
It was about the same size as the one the gentelman in the pic is posed with. They are definitly here regardless what the Game Commission says . They would not know what was in there back yard because they are to lazy to leave there own house let alone there vehicle to do any kind of research at all.
I will bag the next one I see either with a car or whatever it takes because you can not harvest what is not there , via tyhe Game Commission.

I really do not know if there are any in Pa but on a fishing trip from canada in the mid 90’s. my partner and I had seen one and touched it, freshly killed on route 80. 5 miles from the border . I will never forget it.It was HUGE…100 plus pounds.
I live in southwestern PA close to Apollo. In late July early August of this year, my three dogs and I were walking the property. We startled some type of cat that was on its back in brush. It appeared to be scratching its back on the brush.
When it realized we were there it shot straight into the air and took off over the hill. It all happened so fast that the dogs didn’t have time to react to it.
My largest dog is 105 pounds and the smallest is 65 pounds. This cat was somewhere between the size of my dogs. I did not get a good look at its face or I would have been able to positively identity it. It was all gray and had a very long tail.
As I live in a rural area, I regularly see deer, turkey and other wild life. These have been scarce since the sighting. I’ve been looking for scat, carcasses, prints and other signs of the cat. Other than a neighbor saying she saw a very large cat, I haven’t been able to locate any proof.
